Henderson

Henderson is the 2nd largest city in Nevada (after Las Vegas), occupying the Southeastern end of the valley. The city originated in the 1940’s and quickly became a main supplier of magnesium (called the “miracle metal”) in the United States during World War II. Using the Hoover Dam’s power to separate the metal from it’s ore, the Henderson plant contributed one-quarter of all US wartime magnesium for munition casings, airplane engines, parts and to strengthen aluminum.
