Plumbing problems are common in any home. No matter how perfectly maintained a system is, hiccups are bound to happen. However, home owners need not fret because there are easy solutions to common household plumbing mishaps. Here are some examples:
- To address low water pressure at the sink or faucet, check for calcium deposits in the faucet aerator. Carefully take this out and clean up any build up or debris before putting it back in. There should be better water pressure after this. On the other hand low water pressure on shower heads can be fixed by immersing the spray plate in a de-scaling solution. This melts away limescale buildup which will then improve the pressure.
- Slow draining sinks are usually caused by hair or debris buildup. To solve this, simply remove the drain pop-up and clean it out. The same goes with slow draining tubs. Be sure to clean out these fixtures regularly to ensure that water is running smoothly.
- Running toilets are usually caused by faulty parts. This may be the flush lever, the rubber flapper, the pump, the float which raises and lowers with the water level to tell the pump when to go and stop, or the overflow tube. Find out which causes the toilet ro run and replace it.
